Who we are

Why we do what we do

“My passion and commitment to the recovery journey is what drives my life forward. Having experienced, both personally and professionally, what works and what doesn’t, ‘I believe I have found and implemented the essential elements of an effective and successful treatment experience”

Nick Messikh, the founder of Transitions, has been on his own recovery journey for over 16 years. He has had first-hand experience with interventions, counselling and sober living facilities when battling his own addiction. After experiencing his own personal pains with addiction and the prison system, Nick wanted to give back and help others. This desire prompted his career move into drug and alcohol treatment services, supporting people both in custody and the wider community. His passion and commitment to helping others is the driving force behind creating his dream.

Nick has worked in the field of addiction for over 15 years. He has a breadth of experience, such as managing drug and alcohol programmes in UK prisons, managing 30 supported Recovery Houses in Inner London and a Senior Management role in a private treatment facility in Asia.

His vision is to empower clients to be responsible and accountable for their recovery and their lives. By creating a supportive and safe environment with a structured programme and strong community, he is passionate about inspiring clients to strive for a better future.

Your Recovery … Our purpose

Our purpose is to provide a safe and structured environment, whilst equipping clients with the tools needed to achieve long term recovery.

We empower our clients to become accountable and responsible for their own life in recovery. We believe that addiction is a primary illness, progressive in nature and fatal if left untreated. Our goal is to provide healing for that illness, committing ourselves fully to each client in our care, with dedication and action.

Underpinning all of our work at Transitions Bali is our fundamental belief that people, both those we work with and those we serve, are our greatest and most precious asset. This commitment ensures that we offer the best quality treatment available.

Our values

Our core DNA is our values. We believe it is essential to live by these, not only in our interactions with clients but also in our own lives.

Commitment

We deliver the same level of commitment to each and every client as we ask them to give. Dedication is key to recovery and is the backbone of all of the work that we do.

Informed

We at Transitions pride ourselves on bringing a diverse background of experience, training, and models of treatment. We don’t create concepts in a vacuum – they fit into best practice within an ethical framework and high standards.

Community

We have found that the best way to achieve long-term results is by nurturing a strong community, who will support one another from a place of deep mutual understanding. We provide a safe and supported environment that enables clients to make connections that will reinforce their life-changing transition.

Ethical

At Transitions, we display a high level of ethics both professionally and personally. We demonstrate and deliver our treatment programme within an ethical framework, underpinned with a moral obligation to our clients, their families, our staff, and all who we interact with. We believe honesty and transparency, alongside clinical confidentiality, are essential to the welfare of our clients.

Why Bali

Bali is known as “The island of the Gods” and has long been considered a spiritual and peaceful place, dotted with temples, yoga retreats, and wellness centres.

This therapeutic energy along with astonishing natural beauty provides the ideal environment for healing. Stunning beaches and sparkling oceans sit alongside glorious mountains with lush greenery, scenic lakes and waterfalls, sacred rivers and iconic rice paddies.

The sober house itself is based in the heart of Seminyak. It is a luxury 5-bed facility, offering the perfect home to our structured programme. It is ideally located:

* 5 mins walk to our favourite coffee shop
* 15 mins walk to the beach
* 15 mins walk to AA and NA meetings

Here in Seminyak there is a thriving recovery community, a real plus in developing a strong support network through all the fellowships. The island prides itself on having a solid foundation of long term recovering people and a real sense of unity and support.
